We picked up the rental bike today around 9:30am. Before that time we had already used the other three modes of transportation and changed time zones. Crazy to think in our age you have so many options to get from A to B and we can travel so far in a flash.
Now I’m sitting here at 8:30pm reflecting on a heck of a day. I’m thinking, while all of that is convenient, how many people miss out on an adventure like this. Joy and I experienced big temperature swings, different elevations, rain and wrapped the day with strong winds. We put over 300 miles behind us, we were connected to all of it and we have so much more ahead of us.
So the day started off kind of tough. Eaglerider was quite busy when we were there and I can be impatient to a fault. I didn’t want to wait around to ask about the GPS and thought, I’ve done enough research…….. famous last words. Ultimately we got it to route correctly but the arrival time if off by around 4 hours. Additionally I had brought an extra backrest to use, but didn’t have tools. We ended up stopping at an Ace Hardware to get the things I needed. There were other challenges with where to put gear, where did we pack this or that we wanted to use. Ultimately, we figured it out and were rewarded in spades. What an amazing part of the country. See a couple of the photos taken by my on board photographer below:

Finally, after a long day of riding, a touch of frustration, and working things through, we rode the last 30 minutes with the brightest and largest end of the rainbow we’ve ever seen. I’ll share a couple pictures below, but they don’t do it justice.
