Joy on Two Wheels

We are 4 days, 13 hours and 10 minutes from our first big adventure on the back of a motorcycle. We are empty nesters and took up riding a couple years ago. We ride quite a bit and have done a few weekend trips, but now we are flying to Denver, renting a touring bike and riding to California.

It all started when we planned a trip with our kids and their partners. With them being adults, gifting is challenging and memories mean so much more. Once we all decided we all wanted to see the Sequoias and booked a place, I suggested we ride, she told me I was f’ing crazy. Over the next few weeks it was a topic that came up often, with me saying yes, and her holding the line on no. Ultimately, I wanted to ride and shared that I don’t want to say no to adventures as I was a parent quite young and didn’t have the freedom then. After that conversation, she said she didn’t want to miss out on the adventure either and decided she wanted to ride with me.

I started planning our adventure back in February and much of our route is based on 50 Rides, One Nation as part of the Harley owners Group (HOG). There are 6 states, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah and Colorado, that we will ride through picking up challenge coins for each state’s ride.

This is our first attempt at a blog but thought it would be fun to share our adventures. The plan is to give you each of our perspectives as they will be unique. We’ll share more of the prep over the next week and plan to post throughout our trip. Thanks for coming along for the ride, hope it’s the first of many!
