While you finish the lyrics I will tell you there was no cool wind in my hair. We knew it would be a rough ride yesterday so we ended up leaving Buckeye at 4am. Even with leaving that early when we hit Indio, CA and middle desert it was 103 at 10am. The air felt like a hair dryer on full blast.

While we were nearing Palm Desert there were several huge, multiple miles wide and long solar farms. It was insane! This picture doesn’t even do it justice.

Solar Farm in the desert

When we got there it was MISERABLE! So many stoplights with 109 degrees on blacktop. Our legs were on fire from both the bike and the blacktop asphalt.

We made it out of Palm Desert and were on our way to the pines. This Palms to Pines scenic byway allowed us to pick up our HOG ride coin for CA so it was worth boiling for.

Once we made it to the pines we were at our destination Idyllwild, CA. What an eclectic spot, there mayor is, no joke, a dog named Max. They have no city government in place.

We stayed at a fun little lodge and tiki treehouse. We got to walk the town shops, of course Tuesday everything was closed so random. Our food at Atomic Cow Creamery was great. And this morning before we took off we ate at Red Kettle Restaurant really great too. The town really loves dogs as well, makes since when there mayor is a dog, everything was dog friendly, so my kind of people.

Today we made a trip to Big Bear Lake where we will be staying tonight. I’ll have a whole sentimental post for you about today at another time.

Thanks for following along. I’m definitely finding my joy on two wheels, but I’m also ready to be done for a bit and hang with the kids.
