Learned a new word today, Switchys. Most of us call them switchbacks but not my wife, I guess they needed to sound cute for her to keep enjoying them. At one point she did ask how much further, that she had her fill.

Not me, today was outstanding. We had another coin ride for H.O.G., the Coronado Trail Scenic Byway, or lovingly called the Devil’s Highway (formerly route 666). It hails 460 turns in 129 miles and elevations from around 3000 to 9000 feet. We used the Insta 360 again and I made a quick video to show what it was like:

That’s not how we started the day though. Again there was rain predicted, so we headed out at 5:30 am from Albuquerque because that was first light. It was chilly, we made 120 miles before our first stop and Joy was shivering. I kept asking during the ride and she said she was okay, but not so much. We grabbed some coffee and got two jackets on her. On the way though we passed a few cattle ranches that went on for miles and miles, need to look them up. We also saw some antelope and a whitetail this morning.

We did experience our first 90+ degree finish today. The next few days will be more early mornings and mitigating as much as we can. The bike is doing well and I’m ready for more. Below are a couple more pictures from Devil’s Highway, thanks for following along.
