When you take a trip for 6 days, how much do you pack? I am an over packer and typically take way too much. Oftentimes I’m bringing an equal amount of clean and dirty clothes home when returning from a trip.
Our initial ride out is 6 days and I get just over 2 cubic feet of space, which is the size of one hard saddlebag on a Harley. Joy gets slightly more space in her duffle that straps to the tour pack. In addition to that, we have a saddle bag cooler, electronics and our riding gear. Here is our list:

We did a test pack on 4th of July weekend and tried to put it all in my bike, no bueno. As a result, we determined we needed to order vacuum bags. We hadn’t used them before but they work great. The downside is, you have to worry about weight more and ensure the bike is balanced. We also used vacuum bags for our rain gear and jackets.
Tonight we did our final pack and it’s tight. We each used a vacuum bag for three days worth of clothes and it helped. When we vacuumed joys half, she looked at me and said “so I can pack more!” Ultimately, with all the other gear, we needed the extra space, so she couldn’t.
The over packer in me has really struggled. I start to overthink but had to stick to the list. Fortunately, our daughter is bringing us a bag for the California stay, so I just satisfied that need there. thanks for reading…… few more days!
